Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some answers to the questions we are most often asked about the Family Tree Connection service.

What is in the database?

A: The transcribed records of various source documents, including yearbooks, commencement announcements, society membership lists, souvenir passenger lists and much, much more.

How much does it cost?

A: $29.95 for 12 months of access. Your subscription expires 12 months from the day we receive your payment. There are no obligations to renew.

What is included in a subscription?

A: Unlimited access to the Family Tree Connection database; a 5% discount on all purchases made in the Genealogy Today Store; and a 50% discount on all scanning fees.

What are the scanning fees?

A: Some of the sources in the FTC collection include photos of the individuals referenced, and this we provide scanning services for anyone who would like to see them. Our scanning fee is $7.95 per photo, which is discounted for subscribers.

Why isn’t this information available for free?

A: The nominal subscription fee helps support the project, both in helping cover the expenses involved in maintaining the database, as well as, the costs of acquiring additional resources that will be indexed in the future.

Do you offer free trials?

A: No. You may, however, search the index as often as you like. Remember that new records are added daily, so check back often if you don’t find any matches today.

What is the difference between the index and the database?

A: The index gives you the persons name, region and year that the information if from along with the source. The database gives you the exact location, date and all details of the person as listed in the source.

How do I know where the information came from?

A: Every record in the database is properly sourced – right down to the page number that the information was transcribed from. When you copy down information for your records, be sure to note the source information as well.

I subscribed, so why can’t I see the full record listings?

A: Either we haven’t processed your payment, or you are not logged in. You will receive an email when your payment is processed. If you forget your login information, just ask to send it to your email box.

Do you offer money back guarantees?

A: No. We cannot guarantee anything about our service. You may search the index before you decide to subscribe. New records are added daily, but we cannot promise that your ancestors will be included in any resource.
